Preventing and Combating Campylobacter Infections: On Track towards a One Health Approach

Aim

The overall goals of the consortium are:

  • to establish, validate and implement intervention strategies to prevent and combat Campylobacter colonisation in chickens
  • to develop novel therapeutic approaches in order to prevent or diminish campylobacteriosis in humans by validating the efficacy of respective interventions in murine models
  • to improve molecular characterisation of Campylobacter
  • to increase our understanding of the mechanisms that enable survival outside the host, the epidemiology and transmission of Campylobacter
  • to support public health authorities and industry

Relevance on Public Health

  • Establishing intervention methods along the food chain
  • Establishing a risk-intervention model
  • Improving outbreak investigations by identifying host-markers
  • Optimizing source attribution models
  • Identifying novel therapeutic approaches
