Preventing and Combating Campylobacter Infections: On Track towards a One Health Approach
Aim
The overall goals of the consortium are:
- to establish, validate and implement intervention strategies to prevent and combat Campylobacter colonisation in chickens
- to develop novel therapeutic approaches in order to prevent or diminish campylobacteriosis in humans by validating the efficacy of respective interventions in murine models
- to improve molecular characterisation of Campylobacter
- to increase our understanding of the mechanisms that enable survival outside the host, the epidemiology and transmission of Campylobacter
- to support public health authorities and industry
Relevance on Public Health
- Establishing intervention methods along the food chain
- Establishing a risk-intervention model
- Improving outbreak investigations by identifying host-markers
- Optimizing source attribution models
- Identifying novel therapeutic approaches
